This holiday season, I procrastinated like everyone does. It got to be a little late into December, and I realized, oh crap, I never ordered Christmas cards. Now 10 years ago I wouldn’t have cared, and just went to Target and bought a box… but now that I am a mom, everyone expects a new photo of Peanut on the holiday card each year. Now I complain, because its a hassle, but it’s nice to get holiday cards from friends and family. Even if you aren’t that close… you still send a card every year, and its a nice thing to do. And you get to see how big their kids are now. 🙂
So here I am scrambling to get things together. We lucked out and got a great photo because we had a snowstorm early in december (rare for this area… usually we don’t get snow till jan/feb). So I used that with one of their premade templates… I didn’t have the time to get all fancy and design my own. I paid a bit extra to get 7 day shipping. So according to the website, I should have had cards in my hand on Dec. 17.
Dec 17, Dec 18, Dec 19… no cards. I started panicking because 1) christmas is getting here SOON, and I paid extra to have them by now. I’m a bit irritated, so I call their customer service line, and there’s a recording saying something like “Due to an overwhelming amount of orders, we are unable to meet some shipping deadlines, your packages may arrive 1 to 2 days past the intended date, we apologize for the inconvenience.” Now I figure its really only been 2 calendar days, so I will wait, maybe they will come tomorrow and hung up without talking to someone.
On Dec 20th, I got an email from Vistaprint that my order was confirmed. WTF? I already ordered. About 2 hours later, I get a nice email explaining that they realized they did not meet my deadline and reordered my order with 2 day rush shipping to be there in time for christmas. And everything free. I did pay for my original order but this new order, and shipping and all was free. So that’s nice. Now its Dec 23rd, monday before christmas and I get 2 boxes of cards. I was slightly annoyed, but I got everything written out and sent out the next day. So you know what that means? I mailed my christmas cards before christmas. BOOM! 😀
Merry Christmas everyone!
